Glossybox September 2013 - The London Edition

Wow, I am on time this month! Got this lovely Glossybox this week, and I am posting about it this week! Amazing! Well, for me! September's box was all about a kind of best of British selection in time for London fashion week, it was actually a good selection of products this month, so let's get on with having a wee nosy!

A Sample of the new Elizabeth Arden fragrance called Untold. Only a little sample but it does smell quite nice, I'll give it a go on a day off and really test it out!

Some natural looking lashes from eylure. These are pre-glued so that saves me some mess! I am god-awful at applying false lashes so maybe these will be my saviour - I'll be having a shot for the next night out!

Lovely to get a decent sized hair product in a box! and Toni and Guy too, lovely stuff. This is their Shine Gloss Serum, you put it in your hair as a finishing touch and it smells pretty nice. I've used this before in the very teeny travel sized edition and it's a good product to help hair keep looking smooth and with less frizz in my case anyway. Yey for this!

Ahh, a cult classic. I've read about this on blogs and seen it on Youtube and it seems to be very similar to the classic Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. You can use it for all kind of dry patches, cuticles, elbows and of course lips. I have been using it on my lips and it's very very similar to the eight hour, but still lovely! Will keep using this up anyways!

Now, when I first saw this I did think, 'oh no, another eyeliner'. But! This is a proper pen liquid eyeliner, something I don't actually own yet! It's a very dark black colour and glides on easily. I'll be trying it properly tomorrow for my 30 day instagram challenge, so look out for pics on there! (follow me @boredatthenailbar on instagram)

I really liked this month's box and you know, it was really nice to not get some body products for a change! I feel like we often get a moisturiser or a face or body cream nearly every time, so it was nice to just have a box with a change of scene! Happy!

Birchbox August 2013 - The Instyle Edit

So, August's Birchbox was rather exciting - a combo with Instyle magazine it was set up to feature a few of the magazine's favourite cult products. It was quite a good selection indeedy! So let's get onto it!

This is a makeup primer from Gerda Spillman called Hyrdo Pearls. It works really well and goes on easily to make a good smooth base for foundation. Can't say I'll be buying the full size though, it's a tad on the expensive side at £30...

A lovely gel eyemask thrown in, very handy! I thought it would be a great product for going to New York so it got stuck in my 'stuff for New York bag', but unfortunately I am no longer going on this trip. Perhaps more on this in another post.

SkinLife Energetic Cellular Cream by Bluemandarines. This has a lovely smell - it reminded me of sun cream and holidays, and it was a good product to boot. Excellent stuff. I used in the morning and found it relived even my dry skin, it was a tad thinner than the creams I normally use that's the only thing I found odd. But I've used it all up - so must be decent, but here again the price tag would keep me from buying it again - this one is £35. Ouch.

These are supplements by Inner Me meant to help you get 'lustrious locks' and helps nails too. I'm not one who normally takes these things, but I will give it a shot and report back! Can't real hurt me I guess!

Onto the Instyle picks now, starting with the cult classis Elasticizer by Philip Kingsley. This is a great product I have had in a box before and when I can be bothered using it, it does make a huge difference to the look and condition of my hair. It does annoy me that you have to apply it to damp hair then sit around for 20 minutes before you can move onto shampooing and conditioning normally - maybe that's just a laziness thing!

Lip Pencil by Laqa and Co - a nice mini product and moisturising on the lips. Touch too light a colour for me however, so this might be getting passed on!

Finally, a classic. Ahhhhh, Molton Brown. How I wish I could afford anything from this brand on a regular basis. I generally love it all. This is a body wash with the scent of Ylang Ylang. Lovely stuff. Gone already, what more can I say?

Well definitely a bumper box in August, with some really good things I might not have tried otherwise. Hoping September keeps the good selections going! I will try and get that post up on time for once as well! I promise!

Glossybox August 2013 - High Flyers

Well, as usual I'm a tad behind in my posting on my lovely beauty boxes. I might do a post explaining my bit of an absence but to be honest I'm not sure how ready I am for that yet. Anyhoo, onto the lovely cheer up that was my glossybox! The theme was high flyers, so it was showcasing products from different parts of the world.

First item was a 2 in 1 eyeliner and shadow pen from Jelly Pong Pong (the UK product). I was quite up for this product when I first noticed it in the leaflet, but then I realised I had been sent the black colour. Obviously, this is the perfect colour for eyeliner, but for eyeshadow? It was going to be rare I would use it for that, so it's really just another black eyeliner to add to the collection!

Radiance day cream by Urban Veda (based on ancient Indian principles). Just a nice simple day cream, although I did find that it left my skin feeling a little tight sometimes, and it does have rather odd smell. Can't quite put my finger on what it is, but defo odd!

Make up Remover pen by Oceane (from Brazil), this is a really handy product. I have previously used a pen like this from Elf, but I like the idea with this one that you can change the tip on the pen when it gets too dirty. Very handy if like me, you have a habit of having a major eye twitch as you're putting no mascara. Hate that! but I can easily sort it out with this!

Classic product from Tresemme (from USA) a Keratin Smooth conditioning treatment. Oh, I do love a good hair treatment. I put my hair through a lot with straightening and dying it various colours over time, so I do like to treat it nice when I can. This is a nice size of sample and I've managed to use it several times, it definitely makes my hair softer and very shiny after use. As it's just a shot, I will probably buy it again when my hair needs a boost.

These to me, were the gems in the box. Eyelash Curlers from Emite Make Up (from Sweden). These are apparently used by professional make up artists, and they are probably one of the best sets of eyelash curlers I have used. They have replaced my Mr Tweezer set anyway! They hurt less to use (if that makes any sense!) and do get a great curl that holds. Loverly.
