Latest in Beauty - The Glamour Edit

 

Wow. Best beauty box ever. Simple! This was the first time I'd ordered from Latest in Beauty and I'll totally be looking out for new boxes like this! The good thing I think about Latest in Beauty is that you can see what products you are getting in your box, so you know if it's going to be worth you buying or not already. This box was created with the help of Glamour magazine and it doesn't disappoint. There was soooo many items in this box it was more than worth the £15 I paid for it.

 

 

Tweezers from the Vintage Cosmetic Co. Great cute set in pink and they do the job!

 

 

Green Tea Marvel Gel by Ginvera - this is a face scrub that really works to remove dead skin. It feels very gel like, but it's very effective so all good!

 

 

Benefit the porefessional - if you apply a thin layer of this over your face it helps to fill in visible pores and just gives a good smooth finish to the skin, ready for your foundation to go on, or just to improve the look of your skin without much makeup.

 

 

 

The best and original batiste dry shampoo. I hope everyone knows about this product these days! It's immense just to keep on you to freshen up your hair and helps your hair last longer between washes - always loved this.

 

 

 

Another classic cult product - John Frieda Frizz Ease. I used to use this all the time, every day but hadn't in a while, so it's been nice to rediscovered it. If you put it on when hair is soaking wet it helps to keep frizz at bay all day. Brilliant.

 

 

Revlon Nail Polish in Siren 440 - this is a super nice coral, not too red or too pink it should flatter most skin tones. I think I'll use this mostly on my toes - I do love a good bright colour on my toes at the moment!

 

 

Strip lashes by Jinnylash these look really natural on and don't look false much at all. They just seem to blend in with my own eyelashes and look great!

 

 

Yey a Stila Lipglaze! Not had one of these in ages, and forgot how good they actually are. This is guava, a very pale colour that just goes on with a nice, subtle sheen. It is quite sticky though, so make sure you don't use it on a windy day and your hair will stick to it! It looks good over a dark lip colour too, I used it over Topshop beguiled and it just calmed the colour a little and gave that nice sheen!

 

 

Finally, the gel liner from Loreal. The colour in the box was a black with a gold shimmer running through it, and I love it!! This comes with a brush which is also really good and gets a good angle for liner. I have to say, I was really impressed by this, it does really compete with my Bobby Brown gel eyeliner - it has good colour pay off and lasts all day. Great stuff. When they bring out more exciting colours I'll be nabbing them!

 

Wow, what a lot of products in one box. I think I'll be keeping an eye out on latest in beauty every so often so if another one as good as this pops up I'll be on it!

 

 

 

 

 

Birchbox June 2013

 

Well June was the first month of the new funky looking birchboxes. I have to say I do much prefer this design, especially the new bag it all comes in, it's much softer and will still be great for using on holidays! I kept all my suncreams in mine when I was in Cyprus - perfect fit! Anyhoo! June's theme was a festival survival kit, so let's get onto the items!

 

 

Green People Sun Lotion SPF 15 with tan accelerator - I've definitely had this exact product in a box before and I do like it. It smells lovely and is the perfect size to just carry around with you in case you have the opportunity to sit down in the sun! Mine came in handy when I went to watch some Wimbledon tennis in Edinburgh after work one day - very glad I had it!

 

 

Some facial moisturiser from Carole Franck. This stuff is really expensive for the full size (£48) so that puts me off liking it too much, but so far I am really liking it. It does smell really nice - very spa like which is pleasant and calming at night in this heat. It comes in a handy sized tube as well, so would be very good for travel to replenish skin after a plane flight or long train journey.

 

 

Black Eyeliner from ModelCo - this is a good all round product. It does last for a long time and doesn't really budge! Plus it has the handy sharpener in the lid so again is great for carrying with you at festivals etc.

 

 

This is a protect and detangle product from beauty protector - it protects from heat and detangles at the same time. So far I've been using it every day and I do like it, plus it smells lovely and sweet and keeps hair smelling fresh as well which is a plus.

 

 

Finally, there was an exclusive Birchbox color club polish from their wanderlust collection. They very kindly sent you one for yourself and one to give to a friend. I unfortunately got two that were the same colour and that was Mod in Manhattan - a very pale cream almost white colour - not a colour I would normally pick up at all. Birchbox also ran a competition where you could instagram or tweet your mani featuring your color club polish and you could win 100 polishes - I was right up for that! Holiday Essentials - Cyprus 2013

Aww, I miss it already! So in June this year we headed off to Cyprus for a wee break. It was roasting hot! As I was packing my case, I thought it would be a good idea to take some pics of the essentials I was putting in my case! Hope you guys find it useful!

 

First essentials! Facial Sunscreen and the classic Soap and Glory Hand Food hand cream. The sunscreen I got in a beauty box and it turned out to be the perfect amount to last all week. Both myself and my partner used it and it worked well. It apparently has a tint in it, but as I was tanning anyway, I can't say I really noticed it as yet! and he never did anyway! It was a good high factor so great for the face and felt very moisturising and not too drying, definitely a good choice! And as always, the handcream no girl should be without, soap and glory handfood. I love this stuff! I like using it morning and night before bed and always keep one in my hand bag, it's an immense product - if you've never tried it - go and get a mini one!

 

 

My £1 buys to keep us going on holiday! I can't resist a fruity shower gel to keep fresh on holiday, so this original source lime one was amazing. I can't survive anywhere in the world without a detangler, so I got a lovely fruity (again!) smelling one from Schwarzkopf, it does the job pretty well for only a pound and was refreshing on my hair when I needed a cool down.

 

 

Miniatures to help me cool down! The lovely orangey smelling cleansing milk from Paul and Joe. This came in a set I got for my birthday and it was so cooling after a day in the sun, just to refresh the skin it was perfect. Fruit of the Earth pure aloe vera gel was a real saviour from the sun burn, just nice to put on at night to calm the red burnt bits!  

 

 

This was a new discovery for me I found just before I went on holiday. It's a very light aftersun sorbet. It was very refreshing and it's smells of melon - win win! I would really recommend this for sunny holidays (or here in the UK at the mo!) it is a great product for soothing red skin. I got mine in Boots when it was on promotion, it's made by Garnier and it was in the suncream section and only about £5 for this massive tub! Good holiday investment I promise!

 

 

Finally, a wee miniature selection from Clarins. My mum is a huge fan of Clarins, and always seems to get free minis when she buys full size products, so I inherited these two just before I went on holiday since they were a perfect size to take away. Beauty Flash Balm is a reliable product for keeping skin looking well and brighter and as I wasn't really planning on wearing a lot of make up on holiday I thought this would be a good idea to be using instead. It smells lovely too, so I enjoyed using it to try and keep my skin looking good despite the heat! The orange scrub I've used for a few years when I can afford to, and I love that it's not too harsh a scrub, so I was good holiday treat in the mini size.

 

Well, I hope this has been a good feature for guys, I'd love to hear if any of you have enjoyed these products on holiday or at home! :)

 

 

 

 

 

June Glossybox

Well, whoops I'm super late again! Extremely since I got my July Glossybox today and I still hadn't reviewed the June one! So sorry guys! The June box arrived just the day before I went on holiday so I took the pics as I was packing my case. I was hoping something in it would be handy for holiday, but nothing actually came with me! The theme for June was Summer looks - to keep your makeup bag up to date for summer. So, let's have a quick nosy at what I got!

 

Firstly, a black eyeliner by Helen E Cosmetics worth £8. It comes with a handy smudger on the end which I think is the best part about the product. The liner did last most of the day and went on easily so it's something I'll keep using anyway!

 

 

Ahh, a nail polish. But this time, a bit of a let down again. I really haven't been a great fan of the brand mememe in general and have had polish from them in previous boxes and they never seem to last at all. Might just be my experience, but it's a not a polish I'll be hanging on to.

 

 

This is Organic Source colour protect conditioner - probably was happiest with this item. Its full size at 200ml and smells amazing! Very fruit scent that seems to last all day! great product and is very good on my hair as well and keeps it very soft! Lovely stuff.

 

 

Monu hydrating moisturiser is said to help prevent sun damage and signs of ageing. It's meant to help smooth out imperfections and correct skin tone. Monu is a favourite brand of beauty boxes and I've had quite a few products from them now. They generally have all been really good. I could never afford the price for the full size items though, but it's nice to try them all. This is a really good soothing moisturiser and nice to use at night. It smells pleasant and does the job. I'd buy it again, if I could regularly afford the full size!

 

 

Figs and Rouge Lip Balm in Coco Rose. This is a good product, other than the fact the colour I was sent was a very pale pink with sparkle in it, it is a good lip balm and feels very moisturising. Guess I've just gone off having sparkly lips in my old age! Ahem.

 

 

All in all, not too bad a selection and definitely worth more than the £13 I paid for it all, so that always makes me feel better about spending it! I'll be sure to get July's review up in time! Sorry guys x
