April Birchbox Review

Well, the start of a new month always bring nice new treats to me in the form of loverly beauty boxes. I am addicted to these it has to be said! I've been subscribed to Birchbox for over 2 years when it originally started in the UK as Joliebox. I love the variation of products you can get in a box, and most of the time it's things I would never normally try myself or new brands I need to be exploring. They do tend to be good value for money most of the time. With Birchbox you pay £12.95 a month for the box and postage. Usually you can work out that the products inside are worth more than this, so it's win win!

But now, onwards to what treats lay instore for me in April's version!

Birchbox always comes with a nice wee magazine full of beauty tips and interviews with beauty moguls and bloggers, which I think is a nice touch and I always enjoy a browse through it! I also like how the products come inside their own little pink pouch bag, I find these really useful when it comes to holiday times!

Probably the best product in this month's box is the Skin Food moisturiser from Weleda.

It is a very small sample at only 10ml, but boy is this a thick product. It has a pleasant scent to it and really works so far to help with softening heels, elbows and knees. I have used it on my face as well and it's a very intense moisturiser in this way and does make your skin rather slimy, so it's best to let it sit for a while before you attempt to put any make up on. Full size it apparently only cost £8.95 so it's not as expensive as it appears which is a nice touch. Not sure if it's something I would buy myself - but it might be good for holidays when you need a touch more moisture and to help with any dry patches.

The other product I liked in the box was the Natio Gentle Foaming Cleanser

This is made with Sandalwood Shea Butter, Rosewood and Jojoba Lemon. It's a soft feeling facewash and smells lovely. My skin felt fresher once I'd used it and was slightly softer. At only £6.80 for the full size product this isn't much more than I'd normally pay for my usual soap and glory cleanser so I might consider purchasing this one, but will see how I get on with the sample for now!

Now, this next one was a bit of a let down for me. I'm not usually impressed with flowery smelling soaps inside my beauty box - they tend to sit around and never get used by me at all.

This one did come in a cute box, but that's as far as I my appreciation goes I'm afraid. It's by Savon and it's described as a fresh scent, but to be honest it's not something I'd ever use and the smell just isn't me. The full size soap is usually £8.50 - safe to say I wont be purchasing this! It'll make a nice wee present for a relative I'm sure though...

Next, we have a product type that's doing well recently  - the lip stick. More like a lipstick in a pencil - they are usually a more subtle colour and typically more moisturising than the traditional lipsticks.

This one is by Mirenesse, a brand I have never heard of until now to be honest. It's a nice colour a light corally pink with a little bit of gold shimmer running through it. I did find I had to reapply it every couple of hours but otherwise it was quite a nice product. It's worth £17.50 according to Birchbox - but I think I prefer my Revlon versions of this as they tend to last longer. I will use this up no doubt though! Just really getting into lipstick again, and products like this have really helped as I do find them much more subtle.

In most beauty boxes there does always seem to be at least one anti-aging product, and this month's Birchbox was no exception!

This is a sample of Renaissance Age Serum by Gerda Spillman. I've been trying to put more serums in my skincare routine as I'm definatley getting older *cries* so I'm fairly new with these products. I tend to use them under moisturiser and this one did feel nice on the skin and has a pleasant scent. I'll carry on using it and see how I get on over a longer period of time - only used it twice at this point in time!

Finally, there was a nice wee extra touch...

A little Birchbox mirror with 'Let the Sunshine In' on the back. Nice cute wee extra!

Hope you all enjoyed this review, please leave a comment and let me know what you thought of this month's Birchbox!

Thanks!
Lynne :)

Welcome!

Well, heylo dearies! And welcome to the welcoming type post!

This has been something I have been meaning to do for a very long time, and have finally got around to it, so I hope it's something you'll like!

The idea behind this blog is to be a bit all round beauty blog with a bit of lifestyle in it too. I hope to do product reviews of beauty products, hair products, introduce you all to things I like using and will repurchase, as well as things that have made my day to day life much easier. I do have a tad of an addiction/obsession to nail polish, so I'm guessing there might be just a few posts on that!

I have a few posts lined up and planned, but just wanted to get in and say heylo to you all, and I hope you find this blog entertaining and interesting all at the same time!

Catch up soon,

Lynne :)
