Birchbox May 2014 - Harper's Bazaar Collab

So, in May Birchbox has collaborated with some of the people over at Harper's Bazaar in order to give us a box that would help prepare us for a season's worth of outdoor adventures. The idea is that we would be kitted out with things to help us survive anything from a walk to a festival and everything in-between.

It also came with guide to help us with the great outdoors and beauty. This is basically a wee book filled with how to use the products and letting us know the reasons why the people from Harper's Bazaar like the products. This quotes are also on the usual card, so this seemed a little pointless to me, but hey onto the beauty stuff right?!

Soigne - Nail Lacquer (£11)

We all know I love me a nail polish, and this is a brand I have never heard of. It was nicely presented in a box all padded out as well and it comes in classic colours only apparently. The one I got was called Pomegranate and I think this is the most intense red polish I own now. I swatched this on a swatch stick and it goes on well in two coats and has a nice shine to it. I'm sure I might wear this when I'm feeling brave enough, I've never really been one for bright red, but I'll give it a try at some point.

Benefit Cosmetics - They're Real! Mascara (Full Size £19)

Now, I've had this mascara before in a sample size. I think it might well have been from another beauty box, but it is a mascara I do quite like. I've just never been up for forking out the full price for the full size one as I like my Loreal Million Lashes better at the moment (and it's only a tenner). This mascara does give you good looking lashes though and does last well, so it's a good buy if you want to spend the money I'd say.

Aromatherapy Associates - Relax Light Bath & Shower Oil (£39)

I'm not really one for baths, but I've used this in the shower which I often forget about because you have to put it on before you get in the shower, which is easy to forget! But it is nice once you get in the shower, the smell rises and is lovely and relaxing. It leaves your skin nice and soft too which is a bonus. This stuff is pretty extortionate though, so no chance I'll be buying it! It's nice to get to try it though!

Imedeen - Derma One (£37.99)

This is something I've never really followed. Taking supplements for your skin. I guess mostly because it seems like they cost a fortune. But, I'm curious. So I'll give these a go, and if I notice any significant improvements in my skin I'll get a blog post on the go about it!

Philip Kingsley - One More Day Dry Shampoo (£13.50)

I have to admit here again, I've already tried this stuff in another beauty box. This smells lovely and does really help with next day hair, and I found it helped keep my curls nice and with some more texture than before as well. I'll be popping this in my suitcase for holiday anyway, it's a great size and should come in useful!

Liz Earle Beauty Co - Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser (£13.25)

Top notch product, loved by many a beauty blogger. I'm inclined to agree. This a great facial scrub type product that you wipe off with the included muslin cloth and it leaves skin feeling really smooth. I do like this product, but I have to say I find having to use a cloth annoying, you really need to have more than one around so you can clean one and keep one to use. But it is a lovely product, so perhaps I just need to save it to use as more of a treat than a daily skin wash.

May's box has a lot of cult favourites in it, and I do think I will use everything in it, but I would have quite liked to see more I hadn't seen before. But that's just me being picky really. The box this month was really good value still as well, so hopefully Birchbox can keep this up!
